The Kenya National Examinations Council has been asked to postpone exams to December.
This is after the two teachers unions ¬- the Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (Kuppet) and the Kenya National Union of Teachers (Knut) on Saturday said they were suspending their strike and ordered teachers to report back to school after a month long strike.
The unions at the same time demanded that the Teachers Service Commission pays tutors their September salaries.
Kuppet Kisumu branch chairman Zablon Awange said they will take time to settle down after the strike.
Awange said this is also to allow the teachers to absorb the shock of returning to class empty handed.
He said teachers within the county will start reporting to classes Monday a disappointed and de-motivated lot.
The chairman said unlike the national government, they obey court orders.
The union chairman however warned the government of the dangers of disobeying the court order will be extended to the 2017 general election.
