There was confusion during a wedding ceremony at the Faith Ministries Church in Kisii on Tuesday after the bride failed to turn up for several hours.
The groom was already in the church before 10am when the ceremony was supposed to kick off but an hour later the bride was nowhere to be seen.
According to the church elder Eric Mosoti, they realised all was not well when they tried to call the bride and those who were escorting her severally but nobody was picking their calls.
He said they learned from one of the bride's relatives that she was in a Kisii hotel where they rushed to find out the reason for the delay.
"Upon arriving we found the bride had locked herself in a room. We talked to her and the matter was settled and we were able to carry on with the wedding," he said.
The bridegroom identified as Dennis Mochama said the issue was frustrating but thanked the church elders for intervening.
The ceremony which was supposed to kick off at 10am was delayed until 3pm with some of the guests speculating that the delay might have been occasioned by a domestic quarrel.
