Uasin Gishu residents have been urged to go for medical checkups regularly to avert diseases especially those caused by the changing lifestyles.
Speaking during the opening of the Employee Wellness Week organised by the Public Service Management on Monday, Uasin Gishu Deputy Governor Daniel Chemno said through frequent check ups, it would be easy to detect diseases at their initial stages.
"It is good to go for checkups at least ones a year since if you know which disease you are suffering earlier, it will be easier to treat instead of waiting for it to be chronic," he said.
He said the Employee Wellness Week is meant to give chance to employees of the Uasin Gishu County to get free medical screening.
"I urge all the Uasin Gishu County employees to make a step and avail themselves to get examined by experts," he said.
He said through examination, they will be able to know the diseases affecting them and how to treat them.
"Kenyans should embrace going for medical check ups and should not only go to hospital when they are in critical conditions for treatment," he added.
