Nakuru County Assembly Speaker Susan Kihika has appealed to Jubilee Coalition supporters to undertake the voter registration with seriousness ahead of the 2017 general election.

Kihika challenged Jubilee supporters and leaders not be carried away by the ‘tyranny of numbers’ phrase used in the last general election and instead continue registering.

Kihika who has set her eyes on the Nakuru senatorial seat indicated that the Opposition has rallied its supporters in registering as voters an indication of a bruising battle in 2017.

“We are in government and we support it fully. We have a daunting task in 2017 and therefore we need to register in big numbers in order to accumulate votes to outdo the opposition,” said Kihika.

She was speaking on Sunday at Emmanuel PCEA Church at Kagoto Bahati Constituency during a funds drive to facilitate the construction of a health centre where she contributed Sh600,000.

Meanwhile, Kihika called upon women in the country to support their own in order to bridge the two-thirds gender rule.

She indicated that women are capable of capturing more political seats but they will make it if fellow women support them.

“Women are up to the task and as my MCAs are telling of a higher seat, I will make the pronouncement and with your support, we will conquer,” Kihika said.

The speaker was taunted to be the best candidate for the senatorial seat by over 10 MCAs who accompanied her.

Deputy Majority Leader Paul Chebor assured Kihika of the assembly’s support and the residents because she has exhibited exemplary leadership skills.

“You have led the Assembly in a wonderful way, and your leadership skills are equal to none,” Chebor said.
