The prosecution has requested to consolidate the cases against a man accused of defrauding Nakuru business people goods worth over Sh50 million.

Nicolas Ng'ang'a faces six charges of defrauding people an assortment of goods this year while he was working as a director of Educative Supplement International.

On September 7, Ng'ang'a pleaded not guilty before Nakuru Chief Magistrate Joel Ng'eno and was given Sh5 million cash bail which he failed to raise and was remanded at  the Nakuru GK prison.

In the first charge,  Ng'ang'a allegedly obtained assorted foodstuff valued at Sh2,419,250 from Seastar Supplies and Engineering Limited on diverse dates between March 23, and June 4 at Milimani Estate within Nakuru County.

It is also alleged that he had been giving tenders to people to supply him with goods after which he went into hiding for three to four months. 

In another charge, he allegedly obtained assorted pipes worth Sh5,161,715 from Peterson Munene on diverse dates between February 20 and 26.

In a third charge, Nganga is accused of fraudulently obtaining assorted foodstuffs valued at Sh12,006,360 from Halima on diverse dates between January 27, and February 13.

Ng'ang'a was also charged alongside others for fraudulently obtaining cypress timber valued at Sh3,400,000 on diverse dates between January 31 and March 9.

On the fifth account, he is accused of obtaining foodstuff that included maize, rice and beans valued at Sh8,442,500 from H$K Enterprises Limited on diverse dates between February 6 and 20.

He faces a sixth charge of obtaining foodstuff valued at Sh22,080,900 from Kuweka Trading Limited on diverse dates between March 11 and May 11.

Appearing before Senior resident magistrate Judicaster Nthuku, the prosecution pleaded that some of the cases are coming up for hearing and they wished to consolidate all the cases facing him.

The court made an order that the defense be served with copies of charge sheets and witnesses befoe the case proceed for hearing.

The case will be mentioned on October 14 for consolidation.
