Kakamega County senator Bonny Khalwale has faulted Kiambu County Government for putting its interest first instead of residents, terming this as bad governance.
Khalwale was speaking on Monday at Thika Community Hall in Kiambu County when a section of senators met with Kiambu traders.
He said that the County Government has failed to protect its people hence urging Kiambu County Governor to involve residents while making decisions.
He said that the power of the county and country in general falls under the people.
“The county government has no right in increasing the levies without the consent of Kiambu leaders and residents,” said Khalwale.
He however lauded the county for being among the top counties in matters dealing with procurement and humanity.
He at the sametime hailed Thika residents and its leaders for conducting a peaceful demonstration last month to voice their sentiments and concerns on high license levies.
“The peaceful demonstration was a win for the residents and traders since it triggered the push for the government to act and sometimes if diplomacy is not applied force is necessary,” said Khalwale.
