Nakuru West Member of Parliament Samuel Arama has urged county leaders and residents to stop using court of law to block development activities in the area.
Speaking in Nakuru town on Friday afternoon, Arama said that there are many diplomatic means of solving disputes other than rushing to court.
He urged leaders in the county to embrace dialogue whenever crisis arise, instead of engaging in endless legal battles.
"Court proceeding are slow hence delaying development. It is not good to use the court to bar a project which would benefit residents,” urged Arama.
He lauded Thursday’s court decision, which directed the county government and hawkers to settle their differences out of court.
Hawkers in Nakuru town went to court urging the government to stop the County Government from evicting them from Central Business District.
“As much as courts were created for human beings, we must avoid taking everything to court. Some things can be settled outside the court and I do not see the reason of spending a lot of money paying lawyers over something which can be sorted in a thirty-minute boardroom meeting,” said Arama.
