Four people suspected of theft were on Monday arraigned before a Kisumu Court to answer to the charges against them.

The four however denied the charges before Kisumu Chief Magistrate Catherine Ouko for the offence they allegedly committed on diverse dates between December last year and March this year in Kisumu.

Harriet Oketch, Juma Otieno, Pius Koech and Moses Obula were accused of stealing goods worth Sh250 from a wholesale store where they had been employed.

The prosecution alleged that the four used to steal the goods and restock them in a retail shop they jointly owned in Chemelil.

They were arrested after the owner of the store discovered that some items were missing yet there was no money coming.

This led to the launch of investigations where the goods were traced to the four accused.

The first and second accused was arrested last month while the third and the fourth accused were arrested on Thursday last week as they were on the run.

The case could not start with two suspects, so they had to be remanded awaiting the arrest of the other two.

Ouko released them on a cash bail of Sh50, 000 each with a surety of a similar amount pending the hearing on June 24.
