The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Haji has denied receiving a letter allegedly written to him containing the names of Kenyans wanted in the Akasha drug case.
In a tweet on Friday, the DPP questioned the authenticity of the letter which was allegedly written to him by Interpol.
"PLEASE NOTE. The DPP Noordin Haji has not received the following letter circulating on social media purported to have been written by Interpol containing a list of wanted Kenyans for adversely being mentioned in the Akashas' drug case," read the tweet by the ODPP.
The letter which went viral after being circulated on social media contained a list of 23 renowned Kenyans.
The 23 are listed in two categories; those wanted for prosecution and those wanted for questioning.
"We hereby give notice that the following persons are wanted in one regard or the other (as specified below) in relation to the affidavits and confessions by Baktash Akasha, Ibrahim Akasha and Vijayghiri Goswami alias Vijay Goswami in the course of criminal conduct within your jurisdiction bearing consequences resultant in disruption of normal conduct and harm to citizens and residents of the United States of America,” reads the letter in part.
Top government officials were also among those named in the letter which was disowned by the DPP.
