The body of a catholic priest who was found murdered has been exhumed from a shallow grave in Kiritiri, Embu County.
The exercise was conducted on Wednesday morning by government pathologists and police officers after a court order was obtained on Tuesday.
Father Michael Kyengo was serving at Thatha Mission Parish in Masinga Sub-County before his death.
Fr Kyengo went missing last week after he was kidnapped on his way to Masinga from Kangundo, days after his leave.
In his car, the father was in the company of a worker who had helped fence his home in Tala. He is reportedly said to have dropped him in Kaewa.
It was around 9 pm after dropping the worker when the priest headed to Masinga Resort when he was kidnapped.
Two people have since been arrested over the incident. One of the suspects led the police to the crime scene where his body had been buried.
Leaders and residents from Masinga and Machakos have called on police to ensure the culprits are punished.
