Uasin Gishu governor Jackson Mandago on Saturday evening was the first one to be enumerated in the 2019 National Population and Housing Census.
Mandago was enumerated together with his family at his Eldoret home.
Speaking to the press after the exercise, the governor called on residents to take part in the census.
He said; "The census exercise is crucial since it will help the government in planning development for its people and strengthening devolution through policy formulation."
Over 1.2 million Uasin Gishu residents are expected to be enumerated.
The census exercise which started on Saturday night will run for seven days until August 31, 2019.
