In a tweet in their official campaign Twitter handle, Owalo's team argued that the party headed by the former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, which was the most influential in Kibra in the past had lost its 'celebrity star power'.

According to the former Raila Odinga's aid campaign agents, political meetings convened by the Orange Democratic Movement party (ODM) had become business-as-usual whereby residents no longer felt excited by them.

The team further noted that despite the ODM rhetoric, problems such as poor housing, low income, poor sewerage systems, lack of food and illnesses had never been resolved.

"ODM Kibra celebrity star power is DEAD in Kibra. It is not working! Instead, it only offers temporary entertainment whereof residents return to their houses...to their lack of jobs...to their lack of income...to stinking open sewerage...to hunger...to diseases...to...," read the post.

The ANC candidate who fell out with his former boss will face off with Benard Imran Okoth (ODM), MacDonald Wanyama Mariga (Jubilee), Khamisi Butichi (Ford Kenya) and other candidates from various political parties in the forthcoming by-election.

Kibra constituency parliamentary seat became vacant after the sitting MP Ken Odhiambo Okoth succumbed to colorectal cancer in July 2019.

The by-election is slated for Thursday 7th November 2019.
