Speaking on Sunday, the former Gatanga MP said that only ODM leader Raila Odinga can defeat the high-flying Deputy President William Ruto in the 2022 presidential race.

Anyonka now says that this is most likely the exact thing that President Uhuru Kenyatta thinks, considering that Murathe is among the closest people to the president.

He said that the remarks are almost a declaration that the president thinks the same way, cautioning Kenyans against dismissing him as just another person giving his opinion.

"When Murathe speaks, a personal confidant of Uhuru, its highly probable that he is speaking on the behalf of his friend Uhuru. (Ukiona Murathe akiongea, na yeye ni personal confidant ya Uhuru, there is a high possibility anaongelea rafiki yake Uhuru)," Anyonka said on Radio Maisha, Monday morning.

Also, he observed that the inclusion of Raila's name in his remarks rubberstamps suspicions some Kenyans have been harbouring about him preparing to take another shot at the seat.

The commentator opined that the ODM leader has shown every indication that he will be taking his fifth shot at the top seat in 2022, with the only remaining part being to announce it.

"All signs show that Raila will be there. He is silent because he is aware that emerging early would victimize him. (All signs show that Raila atakuwa pale. Hatangazi maana anajua akitoa kichwa mapema huenda akaumia)," he added.

One of the reasons that have made many Kenyans believe that Raila remains ambitious about the presidency is his refusal to retire after his 2017 loss, the fourth defeat, to Uhuru.
