The Mombasa County government has assured tourists, locals and other visitors who are expected to visit the region during the festive season of security.

County Commissioner Nelson Marwa said the county government has formed a multi-agency security team to enhance security during the December holiday. The security team will deal with any security threats during the festive season, he said.

Marwa who was speaking to the press on Monday at his office said security has been beefed up in the region to ensure all visitors to the Coastal city are safe. More traffic Police officers have also been deployed at the Likoni Channel, Mombasa-Malindi highway and Mombasa-Nairobi highway to ease transport.

“We are not leaving anything for chance. We want to assure every citizen and tourist that security has been improved.”

“Measures are already in place to enhance security in the Coastal city. We have formed a multi-agency security team which will deal with crime and terrorism during the festive season in Mombasa County,” said Marwa.

The Commissioner further said that police officers in civilian clothes would be positioned at popular holiday spots and also more officers deployed at the Jomo Kenyatta public beach to enhance patrols.
