The Kenya Medical Research Institute (KeMRI) will soon set up a modern testing and diagnostic centre in Nakuru County.

While welcoming the move, Governor Mbugua said the county government will assist in the physical infrastructure of the centre.
He said the centre will serve the increase need of medical treatment especially of long term illnesses which has made many Kenyans to spend millions of money for treatment abroad.
"We are not short of resources and it is just a matter of availing the necessary resources and equipment’s to help our people," he said.
Governor Mbugua also called on the national government to give adequate budgetary allocation to setting up of the centre in Nakuru and also other parts of the country.
He observed that with the increase of interest in medical trainings and opening of medical schools in local universities, such centres will be facilitated in terms of human resource to improve health provision in Nakuru.
