Political analyst Prof Edward Kisiang'ani has proposed consensus in the heating Kibra parliamentary race, which has since attracted most of the nation's biggest parties.
Already in the race is the ruling Jubilee party, Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), Amani National Congress (ANC), Ford Kenya, among others.
In a tweet on Wednesday, the commentator proposed a situation where all the parties leave the position for Jubilee's McDonald Mariga.
This, he said, would uphold the 2018 truce between Jubilee leader President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM boss Raila Odinga.
"Maybe for a change and in the spirit of the Handshake, let all political parties currently competing with Jubilee in Kibra withdraw their candidates from the race and pledge to support Jubilee's football star Mariga! Why not?" he wrote.
He also sought to correct the narrative going round that Mariga is being sponsored by some individuals within Jubilee, most likely Deputy President William Ruto.
According to him, linking Mariga to Ruto is baseless, pointing out that he is the candidate of the Jubilee party, and not an individual.
"For record purposes,Mariga is the Jubilee candidate for Kibra.. He is not DP Ruto's candidate contrary to the hullucinations of some people. He will battle it out with Jubilee opponents from such political outfits as Ford Kenya ,ANC and ODM," he added.
