President Uhuru Kenyatta’s decision to fire Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mwangi Kiunjuri will not affect Mt Kenya politics, Nyeri Town Member of Parliament Wambugu Ngunjiri has said.
Speaking to journalists in Nyeri on Tuesday, Ngunjiri said Kiunjuri's firing won't have any influence, or consequence on the Central Kenya region politically.
He accused Kiunjuri of daring the president, adding that he should have supported the president in his endeavours.
“I don’t think Kiunjuri being removed from Cabinet is going to affect Mt Kenya politics at all. I think he asked for this himself. we have told him on several occasions that he is in Cabinet to support the President and to do the responsibilities entrusted to him.
"He seems to have been cutting his own independent niche and wanted to run his show, and I guess what the president has done is to released him to run his own independent politics. Now he is free to go and do the politics he wants to do and we wish him all the best,” he said.
While responding to his sacking, Kiunjuri said he is grateful to the President for giving him the chance to serve in his government, adding that he will soon stage a comeback.
