National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi has dared his critics to table an impeachment motion against him in Parliament.
On Monday, Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria accused the Speaker of allegedly being compromised on the Building Bridges Initiative report, after he was quoted saying that it will not make it to parliament.
A furious Kuria claimed that the speaker had been bribed to block the report from being tabled in Parliament.
“Why Justin Muturi would allow himself to be bribed with a tilapia meal by John Mbadi in Migori to rule out a parliamentary route for BBI is a mystery for me. Today I will start collecting signatures to impeach him,” he posted on his social media page on Monday.
Leaders from across political divide have differed on the mode of implementation of the report, with some calling for a referendum.
On Monday, Muturi dismissed claims that he was compromised, insisting that the report cannot make it to Parliament the way it is.
The sSpeaker, without making reference to Kuria, said those with impeachment advances should do it in Parliament instead of discussing in bars and funerals.
"The person with impeachment motion against me should bring it on. I'll sign it and it will be discussed. It's not enough to speak in funerals and bar. Bring it on and Parliament shall decide," he said.
