Residents of Ibeno ward in Nyaribari Chache Kisii County are seeking answers from the Deputy President Dr William Ruto over the stalled Kenya Medical Training College he commissioned on 30th September 2016.
Speaking to Hivisasa at Ibeno on Tuesday, locals stated that since the Deputy President laid the foundation for the institution, nothing has happened so far.
"We are very bitter as the people of Ibeno ward. He (DP Ruto) launched a KMTC in our area here three years ago but since then we have not seen any work commence. He promised it was to kick off immediately but now its three years down the line, nothing has happened," said Joel Ondieki, an area resident.
The area Member of parliament Richard Tong'i who accompanied the Deputy President at the time of the launch has been accused of laxity and negligence for he has not escalated the concern to the concerned authorities.
"We want the area MP to come out clear and explain to us what is going on. This school here will assist our youth. Tong'i is ever asleep, he has never shown up since they left this place in 2016. It is a shame on him. The clock is ticking towards 2022," said Jane Onsongo.
They have called upon the Deputy President who is expected in Kisii this Thursday at Kisii National Polytechnic for a graduation ceremony to visit Ibeno and assure them or explain why the project he started has not commenced.
Responding on behalf of of the Deputy President, Richard Tong'i when reached on Phone said the work is in progress requesting the residents to be patient.
"My brother the work is in progress," He responded in a brief statement before hanging up on this writer.
Tong'i refused to answer further questions on the project including the Sh10M he allegedly committed to the project's funding from the NGCDF.
