Kesses Member of Parliament Dr. Swarup Mishra has promised to construct an International Stadium in his constituency.
Speaking to the press in Eldoret town on Saturday, Mishra said this will be in honour of Eliud Kipchoge who broke the recent INEOS Marathon under two hours record.
“I want to congratulate Eliud Kipchoge for this brave move of making us proud. We want more Kipchoge’s this will only be achieved if we have International stadiums that will be used by both veteran and upcoming athletes. We want to make champions,” said the Kesses first term Jubilee MP.
Dr. Mishra reiterated that it is sad that Uasin Gishu County does not have an International stadium despite Eldoret being a City of Champions and producing renowned athletes.
“I also call on the CS of Sports Amina Mohamed to help us by ensuring that Kipchoge stadium is completed since it has taken many years and athletes from the region don’t have a place to train,” added Mishra.
He wondered why the Ministry of Sports has taken longer to complete the construction of the Kipchoge stadium.
Mishra, however, revealed that his administration will unite all veteran athletes who made Kenya proud and look at how they will support and promote them after retirement.
