Soy Member of Parliament Caleb Kositany now wants the push for constitutional amendments speeded up and concluded before mid this year.
Under the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) push, Kenya is looking at a possible referendum, which enjoys the backing of a section of politicians from both the government and opposition.
Kositany, one of those who have been questioning the amendments, now wants the issue to be concluded the fastest possible so that the country can focus on other things.
In an interview on Citizen TV's Day Break on Monday, he proposed that the implementation of the BBI be done away with by the end of March.
"We need to do away with BBI as quickly as possible and focus on the revival of the economy. It’s going to be a tough year; Kenyans need to brace themselves," he said.
Asked if that will be possible yet the BBI report public participation has not even begun, he argued that there is nothing much to be done since the structure is already there.
He added that after that, Kenyans can focus on how to tackle the factors affecting the country, among them the limping economy.
"My projection is that we should be done wih the BBI by the end of March so that we can ficus on the revival of the economy. There really is not much since we already have the structure, it's all about fine tuning what needs to be implemented," he added.
