Ford Kenya candidate for the Kibra parliamentary seat Khamisi Butichi was not as popular as he is now, until he joined the race to succeed the late Ken Okoth in Kibra.
Many Kenyans remain in the dark about his past political moves, including the fact that he vied for the same position in Ikolomani, Kakamega county, in the 2017 polls.
Butichi sought the seat on the Amani National Congress (ANC) party ticket, before emerging a close second, losing to Jubilee's Bernard Shinali by slightly over 1000 votes.
In the race, Shinali scooped 15,898 votes, followed by Butichi with 14,768 votes, while the third person, Mukhuno Vincent managed only 3,414 votes.
His attempts to petition Shinali's win in court were futile.
However, Butichi has since crossed over to make another attempt in the city, where he is promising a better life for Kibra residents should they give him the job.
On Friday, he intensified his campaigns, promising education, equity in opportunity and resource distribution, job creation and education, as he held door-to-door campaigns.
He will be facing off with among others, ANC candidate Eliud Owalo, 2 months after he forfeited his life membership at the Musalia Mudavadi-led party.
Also in the race are Jubilee Party aspirant McDonald Mariga and Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) candidate Imran Okoth.
