The Nakuru Health department has rolled out a plan that involves the upgrading of healthcare facilities.
Among the improvements expected include the new dispensaries undergoing construction at Kayole, Ngondi and Sisioni.
According to Dr Oren Ombiro of the Ministry of Health, the department has also kick-started the expansion of the maternity ward in Mai Mahiu.
Ombiro pointed out that renovation of the maternity in Karagita and the new Outpatient block undergoing construction at the same dispensary will see the clinic serve more than 500 people.
He was speaking in an interview on Monday where he said the county had also embarked in a mission to build staff houses at Kipkonyo.
“The county also equipped Kipkonyo, Nyamathi and Olkaria dispensaries to enable them to serve the residents better,” he added.
Dr Ombiro cited that there was a new mortuary under construction in Maiella .
“This will enable us to preserve the bodies better,” he added.
He pointed the Beyond Zero Clinic as one of the initiatives being used to reach people who cannot access regular clinics.
“We have been reaching out to Maela, Ngondi, Karagita with the initiative and among the issues we addressed are the cancer screening for women in the area,” he added
