Uasin Gishu County Governor Jackson Mandago has put on notice ambulance drivers who are fond of ignoring calls during emergencies.
Speaking in his office on Monday, Mandago said that he has received some credible information from his officer from the health sector that there are some ambulance drivers who knowingly or unknowingly ignore or put their phones off when called for an emergency, thus causing untimely deaths that could have been prevented.
"My government has bought ten new ambulances to cater for emergency cases in Uasin Gishu County, and and to make it effective and avoid cases of ambulance drivers not being found on his or her cell phone when needed," he said.
"We have decided to buy each a cell phone to be reached during emergency, and anyone who will not be found on phone will be shown the door with immediate effect," he added.
He further urged 'wananchi' to stay vigilant and report cases where ambulance are used for unauthorised businesses.
"These ambulances are yours, bought from your tax money and meant to assist you. You should help us in protecting them by reporting any misuse on the same and I promise I will take stern actions against such an individual," he added.
