An real estate agent in Nakuru was on Tuesday arraigned before a Nakuru court for stealing from a client.

Denis Nyagaka who works for Adens Security and Management, a real estate agency, was accused of stealing Sh272,000 belonging to John Oriri which had been received from Rebecca Jur as house rent on diverse dates between May 22, and July 23, at Cigma Building in Nakuru town.

In a second count, Nyagaka has been accused of issuing a bad cheque of Sh191,760 to John Oriri on May 5 in Nakuru, which was dishonoured by the bank for having insufficient funds.

According to the prosecution, the company has been hired by Oriri and agreed to receive a 6 percent fee in order to manage the property.

Upon realising the alleged inconsistencies in payment, Oriri reported the matter to the police and the accused was arrested at Shabaab area on September 14.

Appearing before Chief Magistrate Joel Ng'eno, Nyagaka pleaded not guilty and was released on a Sh200,000 cash bail and an alternative surety bond of Sh500,000.

The case will be heard on October 21.
