A few years ago, Borabu MP Ben Momanyi could not see eye to eye with Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiang'i, despite the two sharing a constituency.
So vicious was the battle of supremacy between them at Mr Momanyi even escalated it when rumours went around that Dr Matiang'i would contest for Nyamira gubernatorial seat.
At a past interview, Momanyi slammed Matiang'i as an outsider, arguing that the ideal place for him to run for gubernatorial post was in Kisii.
"He comes from Kisii and that's where he should try his luck. But if he's ready, I'll teach him a lesson. He tried in 2017 to bring me down but failed," he said.
The MP had accused Dr Matiang'i of spearheading campaigns against him in 2017 along with Solicitor General Ken Ogeto. The two supported Patrick Osero.
At a fundraiser in Menyenya early this year, Dr Matiang'i appeared to hit back at Momanyi, insisting that he was born in Nyamira and that nobody could change the fact.
But recently, the two politicians reconciled in a dramatic turn of events, with Momanyi now rallying for Matiang'i to assume presidential seat in 2022.
In an exclusive interview, Momanyi, who had initially backed DP William Ruto, seemed to be happy by the fact that Matiang'i was destined for a national political post.
"I think he will probably go for Deputy Prime Minister post. That's a fair post for Abagusii community. I endorse him fully," said Mr Momanyi.
About three weeks ago, Mr Momanyi asked Raila Odinga to consider endorsing Matiang'i for presidency, arguing that Raila's calls will seal the top seat.
In 2017, Matiang'i was busy trying to deliver Borabu seat for Jubilee, a move that made him fallout with the populist politician, who is widely respected in Nyamira.
While the two have since reconciled, Matiang'i is yet to reach out to ODM treasurer Timothy Bosire, who also accused him of engineering his fall in Kitutu Masaba.
