Nyeri Town Member of Parliament Ngunjiri Wambugu has said that no amount of criticism will shift his feeling and view of Deputy President William Ruto.
The MP has been part a group of Mt Kenya politicians who have been up in arms against Ruto's presidential ambitions, specifically his 2022 presidential bid.
Speaking on Sunday, he admitted being repeatedly warned that his stand against the DP might cost him his seat in the 2022 polls, terming it the feeling among some Kenyans.
"I hear some people saying that if you continue fighting the Deputy President you will not be elected in 2022," said the MP on K24's Punchline show on Sunday night.
However, he insinuated that he doesn't care much about what happens in 2022, insisting that he is only living now, and has his attention cast on his tenure between 2017 and 2022.
The youthful lawmaker said that he will continue pushing his ideologies, including discouraging Kenyans against electing the DP, saying that the 2022 issue will be discussed later on.
"We are in Parliament for this season; between 2017 and 2022 and its out time to deliver for this season. We don't even know if we will be there in 2022," he added.
The MP hails from the Kieleweke faction of Mt Kenya politicians, which has been pouring cold water on Ruto's presidential intentions, terming him not the right choice.
The group has been involved in unending exchanges with the rival tanga tanga group, which is made up of politicians in support of Ruto, and which has campaigning for him.
Wambugu has accused Ruto of undermining his boss, President Uhuru Kenyatta, by engaging in early campaigns, in defiance to Uhuru's calls for political calm.
