Former Presidential candidate Abuda Dida has hit out at Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko for ignoring his advice.
In a tweet on Monday, Dida said that he once asked the first-term governor to name a youth as his Deputy but he decided to give him a cold shoulder. He noted that the current situation spells doom for the governor.
Dida noted that the governor will now understand what it means to stand on your own in the political arena. He, however, refrained from commenting on the graft case the governor is facing.
" I once asked Mr. Sonko to nominate a youth to the DG position. Now that he is out of his position, he will understand that in politics, you can't stand alone and that Nairobi County will always be there, with or without him. About him being innocent or not, no comments," he tweeted.
In his message after naming Anne Kananu as his Deputy, Sonko said that he will stick to the bail terms he was granted after release from custody. He asked the MCAs to approve the nominee to allow the smooth running of the county.
“As a law-abiding citizen, I will continue to abide by the bail terms granted to me, and ensure that the operations of the County are not affected in any way, to guarantee the great people of Nairobi uninterrupted services,” he said through a Facebook post.
