President Uhuru Kenyatta has surrounded himself with key allies who run the show as he seeks to leave behind a legacy before 2022.

The President has set up a team to ensure the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) and Big Four Agenda are fruitful.

Daily Nation reports that, one of the key allies of the President in the kitchen Cabinet is Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i.

Uhuru named Matiang’i a super Cabinet secretary to ensure that the Big Four agenda succeeds.

He is considered one of the most powerful insiders in the government. 

Matiang’i has been tasked with executing the orders of the President at different levels.  His recent impromptu visit to civil registry office left staff in panic after he fired two of them.

ODM Leader Raila Amolo Odinga has also formed part of the kitchen Cabinet. Raila recently accompanied President Uhuru to Russia. 

His word is always taken seriously since he changed his tune following the long electioneering period that saw the outcome of the Presidency nullified. 

Principal Secretary, Ministry of Interior Dr Karanja Kibicho is another name that rings the bell when talking about Uhuru’s term in office. 

Kibicho has been brought into the inner circle because of his hardworking nature.

He is among the most trusted allies of the President. The State House Comptroller and Former Nakuru governor Kinuthia Mbugua plays an critical part in Uhuru’s government. 

He is the keeper of Uhuru’s dairy as well as advisor of the President.

Political strategist Nancy Gitau is also another key ally of the head of state running the show in the government. 

Chief of Defence Forces Gen Samson Mwathethe has been on the front runner in ensuring Uhuru ‘s agenda is achieved. He left many wondering when he warned against divisive politics before 2022.

Others that form the kitchen cabinet are Director-General National Intelligence Service Maj-Gen Philip Wachira Kameru and Chief of Staff and Head of Civil Service Joseph Kinyua.
