Machakos county deputy governor Hon. Francis Maliti has said that Machakos county government is committed to creating various income sources for every resident.
Speaking on Friday through his Facebook page, Maliti said that the income-generating projects will cover everyone regardless of their age.
"As a county government we are committed to creating income sources to every mwananchi, both young and the elderly," he said.
The DG spoke after overseeing the distribution of free chicks in Muthesya ward in Masinga sub-county an exercise which was piloted by Machakos county government under the leadership of Dr Alfred Mutua.
Maliti, who was accompanied by Muthesya Ward Member of county assembly Daniel Kiilu, nominated MCA Carol Musembi and Chief Officer for the water department Mr Jackson Muthini among other leaders also noted that the issue of water scarcity in Muthesya ward will be addressed once Muthesya dam is complete.
"This dam once completed will address the issue of watwr scacit in muthesya location," he affirmed.
Distribution of free chicks is among free farming projects launched by governor Mutua in Machakos in 2018.
Others free projects in the county include free tractor services, free fruit seedlings, free farm seed, pasture improvement among others.
