Thika West Sub-County Commissioner Jeremiah Gicheru has instructed police officers to arrest bodaboda operators who on Monday blocked two roads in the sub-county paralysing transport in the affected areas.

He expressed concern that some youths fell down trees and also used boulders to block the Muguga roads saying that lawlessness would not be condoned.

The DCC recalled that transportation of examination papers were disrupted and sick people going to various health facilities could not reach their destinations due to illegal roads closure and he received numerous calls from members of public as well as leaders demanding an explanation.

Gicheru said that all those who led the bodaboda riders in blocking the roads would be arrested and prosecuted immediately and directed the Thika OCPD Erastus Muthamia in doing so.

The DCC made the remarks on Tuesday at Thika Sub-County stadium where he read the presidential speech to mark this year’s Mashujaa Day.

He lauded the area residents for assisting the government in carrying out raids to eradicate illegal brews recently and urged them to report anybody who might have started brewing illicit brews secretly.

Gicheru recalled that residents were now able to contribute towards programmes that were beneficial to them unlike before when they were wasting their times drinking brews.

The DCC appealed to residents living in flooding areas like some parts of Kiganjo to relocate to safer areas adding that El~Nino rains had set in and all dangerous areas should be avoided.
