Nyamira County Commissioner Josephine Onunga has urged administration officers to use the law to effectively solve conflicts and make just rulings.
Speaking during a consultative meeting that was attended by chiefs and their assistants from the county at Nyamira KIE hall on Monday, Onunga told the officers to play their roles effectively to reduce cases in court.
She, however, said most family conflicts were as a result of land ownership and inheritance, which can be best tackled by carrying out enough research that will ensure all facts about the family background, are available for accurate decisions.
“Most of the conflicts concern land inheritance and ownership. When a case is brought before us, we should do thorough research on it before making any decision,’’ she said.
The commissioner also urged the officers to take legal action against illicit brewers in their respective locations which she noted had ruined many families including youths because they know the particular homesteads where the brews are prepared.
