Kahawa Wendani residents have been urged to boost security in the area by knowing their neighbours and to report any suspicious persons with questionable activities in the neighbourhood.
Nyumba Kumi chairman Patrick Njogu says that in order to curb the current insecurity in the country, residents should take it upon themselves to know the people that they live with so as not to harbour terrorists.
He said this during an evening Nyumba Kumi meeting with some residents yesterday at Glory of God Church in Kahawa Wendani.
Njogu said that landlords should also be cautious of the people they rent their houses to so as to ensure that the tenants are safe.
He added that the security of the country should start right from their neighbourhoods as the terrorists tend to be people who live among us and have gotten access of information from the same residents.
Njogu said that it is important for the plots to have certain rules such as closing the gate at a certain times and all the tenants to have their own gate keys so that they are the only ones allowed entering at late hours.
He urged the neighbours to try and be contributing a small amount so that they can hire and maintain security personnel so that they can be offered security for their families and their property.
Damaris Wamuyu, a member of the Nyumba Kumi group said that residents should battle insecurity by being their brothers’ keepers and to ensure that their neighbours are safe.
