A youth lobby group has urged Kenyans to condemn and rise against the recent ruling by the high court that gave a nod to the registration of Gays and Lesbians associations in the country.
Led by its Chairman Antony Waweru, Mawanga Youth Agenda members, while debating on the issue during the lobby group’s weekly public forum session at Kalvery Church grounds today, they expressed their disappointments with the court’s ruling, arguing that it went against African and Christian values and cultures.
According to the lobby group, the constitution should be amended to oppose such provisions that go against moral standards, and which have a capacity of creating a crippled society that condones immorality in a guest to protect constitutional rights.
“We as the youth of this country must mobilize other Kenyans in opposing the High Court’s ruling that gave a nod to an appeal by the Gay and Lesbians who secretly live among us to come live by being registered in societies,” said Waweru.
“Let them do their immoral activities but we should uphold our African and religious values. What kind of society are we trying to build by allowing immoral people to openly exercise their immoral activities? We must come out strongly against this,” he added.
