Kisii Senator Chris Obure has faulted the Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KeRRA) for failing to facilitate the timely rehabilitation of rural roads in Kisii.

Obure said many roads he describes as impassable in Kisii, are under the National Government and there was need for KeRRA to repair them to save people from transport hardships.

Addressing journalists on Monday in Kisii Town, Senator Obure noted that KeRRA delayed to send money to rural areas to construct roads before the heavy rains.

Obure says such a mistake in planning cannot be repeated in the future by KeRRA since roads are very important in the agriculture-rich county.

“Residents are suffering from impassable roads because KeRRA that has the mandate to offer guidance in the construction of roads delayed and failed to send money for the construction of roads in time,” said Obure.

“I am challenging KeRRA not to repeat the same mistake again of delaying sending construction roads money and to always be keen in constructing roads in time,” he added.

He said that tea farmers have suffered a lot because their tea produce is not transported to factories in time leading to huge loses .
