President Uhuru Kenyatta has weighed in on the cases that are filed by certain individuals to stop government projects.
Speaking at the Supreme Court on Thursday, the head of state claimed that the bulk of the cases were being filed by an individual, raising serious questions.
He urged the judges who deliberate on these cases to take time to interrogate these cases before issuing orders.
“There are professionals who have made their business to stop projects in court…I ask myself, why is it that 99% of these cases filed by one person? I think there is something there that one must interrogate...” the head of state said.
President Kenyatta went on to add that those cases were being funded by contractors who had failed to get government projects.
The head of state has long decried the litany of cases filed against government projects.
He has held the view that the cases are detrimental to the country's development agenda.
Renowned activist Okiya Omtatah has in the past filed scores of cases in court to get orders stopping government projects or appointments.
He has long denied that he is working for powerful corporate interests, saying that his cases are driven by public good.
