Police officers in Nakuru County have arrested a man found in possession of five kilograms of bhang wrapped in sacks.
Sub County Police Commander Elena Kabukuru who confirmed the arrest said the police also impounded 213 rolls of bhang, 375 wrappers used in rolling the bhang, and six rolling rods which were found in the suspect’s possession.
Kabukuru said the police were yet to establish the street value of the impounded bhang following the Monday raid at a rental house in Lanet Umoja, Nakuru.
One of the suspects, however, managed to escape during the operation at the house of the man believed to be a distributor of the drug in Nakuru town.
“We have arrested a suspect with bhang. The K9 police dogs helped detect the suspects' hiding dens,” said Kabukuru as quoted by the Nation.
The sub-county police boss said they have launched investigations into the matter in order to arrest other suspects engaging in the illegal business which has affected the youth.
Kabukuru who urged parents to monitor their children to ensure they don’t use drugs said they will still conduct other operations in efforts to end drug trafficking in Nakuru.
“We are working very hard to ensure that we have a society free of drugs. These drugs are a key contributor to the rampant cases and murders among the youth in the country,” she added.
