Speaking in Kanduyi, Bungoma County Saturday, the leaders called on President Uhuru Kenyatta to fire the CS over what they said was his failure to address ills in the agricultural sector.

Saboti Member of Parliament Caleb Amisi issued a seven-day ultimatum for the CS to resign.

"Mwangi Kiunjuri should be at home resting with his children. We will not allow hunky-punky business with our farmers, " the Saboti legislator fired.

ODM Secretary-General Edwin Sifuna charged that CS Kiunjuri was behind the problems ravaging the agricultural sector.

"Kiunjuri who is the Cabinet Secretary of Agriculture, he is the one who is destroying the agricultural sector in this country (Mweshimiwa Kiunjuri ambaye ndio waziri wa kilimo, yeye ndio mwenye kuharibu sekta ya kilimo Kenya hii.)," Sifuna said.

The leaders accused the embattled CS  of not paying attention to the farmers in Western and not visiting the ailing Mumias Sugar Company.

Ford-Kenya party leader Moses Wetangula faulted the government for importing maize, saying there was no shortage of maize in the country.

Kiunjuri disagreed with Noah Wekesa, the chairman of Strategic Food Reserve Fund over the scale of maize shortage in the country.
