Renowned activist and socio-political commentator Boniface Mwangi has urged President Uhuru Kenyatta to defend the Kenyan constitution with the courage of a lion.
In a fiery tweet on Wednesday, Mwangi contended that the country had been taken over by greedy individuals whom he described as hyenas.
The outspoken activist appeared to suggest that the head of state was watching as the country was being torn apart by the greedy people.
He employed the scarecrow metaphor in a bid to make the point that the president was just playing the spectator role instead of taking strong action to save the country from greed.
"Uhuru Kenyatta should stop being a scarecrow. Today’s Kenya is not a case of birds eating grains, but greedy hyenas and vultures eating Kenyans alive. The President ought to be the defender of the constitution, the lion of the nation," Mwangi's tweet read.
The Kenyatta-led administration has come under blistering criticism lately with a section of Kenyans holding the view that the country is sinking and not where it should be.
In a bid to show that he is keen on saving the country from the grip of greedy individuals, the president has said publicly that he will not shield the corrupt and that he will ensure that they are dealt with decisively.
Even though he has been praised for speaking out against corruption, many contend that the war on graft needs to shift from public pronouncements to actual convictions.
