Kenya has better things to deal with apart from constitutional reforms, political analyst Ambrose Weda has said.
There have been claims that the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) formed after the handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM Raila Odinga would propose for a referendum together with the Punguza Mizigo Initiative and the governors' Ugatuzi Initiative.
But Weda now says that Raila, who is enjoying the backing of the president should not subject Kenyans to unnecessary things like more executive seats.
He urged the two to stick together, as has been the case since their 2018 truce, noting that Kenya needs the current peace and not the changes being proposed by Raila's team.
"Raila and Uhuru can meet and eat cake together. It is good that now there is peace but we don't need a referendum. We only want to see a Baringo county where people are not dying of hunger," Weda said on KBC English Service's The Big Conversation show, Wednesday.
He also poked holes into the new Ugatuzi Initiative which was recently proposed by the Council of Governors.
Weda is of the opinion that Kenya has better issues to deal with and cannot afford some of the proposals.
"Where is the money they want? We don't need a Prime Minister. What we need are more teachers," he noted.
