A Nakuru court on Monday ordered for the case where two couples who are claiming to be parents to a two-month-old baby to be mentioned later this month.
This is after police told Nakuru Principal Magistrate David Mararo that the DNA test results were not ready.
Daily Nation reports that the court on August 13th had ordered the police to collect DNA samples from two couples from Nakuru and Busia counties.
The couple from Busia had been arrested on August 11th by the police on allegations that they stole a baby from a couple in Nakuru town.
The Nakuru couple claimed that they left their baby with a neighbour at Rhonda Estate, Nakuru on July 1st when the mother left for the market only to return to find the baby missing.
The matter was reported to the police and after investigations, a couple in Teso South, Busia was arrested after they were found with the baby whom the Nakuru couple claimed was theirs.
In the previous hearing, the woman from Busia was released on an Sh400,000 personal bond and magistrate directed that the two women be granted supervised access to the child who is at a Nakuru children’s home.
During the Monday hearing, magistrate Mararo ordered for the case to be mentioned on September 30 when the DNA results will be ready.
