Speaking during a Team Embrace rally in Garissa on Saturday, the outspoken legislator said that the governor had the interests of women at heart.

She urged the locals to support the county boss because he had shown that he was a courageous and illustrious politician.

"I want to thank the governor of Garissa called Ali Korane because he loves women. Women and youths who are here, I want to tell you that you have a courageous governor and I want you to support him (Wacha nimshukuru governor wa Garissa anitwa his Excellency Ali Korane kwa sababu ni governor ambaye anapenda akina mama. Akina mama ambao mko hapa, vijana ambao mko hapa, nataka niwaambie ya kwamba mko na governor ngangari na nataka mumsupport), " the Homa Bay County rep said.

Gladys Wanga's words will come as a boost to the first time county boss who is in his first term and will be seeking reelection in the 2022 Garissa gubernatorial election.

Mr Korane, a career public servant, upstaged the then incumbent Garissa governor Nadhif Jama.

His tenure has not been without controversy as his administration has had to grapple with corruption allegations that he has strongly refuted.
