Police in Nyamarutu Village in Lanet, Nakuru County nabbed 1,000 litres of Kangara, and 20 more litres of chang'aa on Monday morning, after they were tipped by members of the Nyumba Kumi initiative.
Lanet Assistant Sub-County Commissioner Douglas Mutugi said that the brews were harmful, and has asked the area residents to stay away from them.
This, he has said is to keep them from health hazards among them cholera, which has hit various regions in Nakuru County lately.
“We started the operation at 5am in conjunction with Nyumba Kumi members and the operation was very successful,” said Mutugi.
“We were also joined by Public Health Officers who found the brew to be poorly prepared and a huge health risk to consumers, especially in this wake of cholera outbreak in the county,” he added.
Mutugi vowed to continue with the fight against illicit brews in Lanet, warning those brewing them to look for an alternative activity.
The officers were able to arrest the brewer, who will be arraigned in court soon.
