Speaking in Bukhungu Stadium, the vocal trade unionist lauded the senator's brilliance in legal matters.

"Moses is a sharp young man. When Moses graduated, his first case was defending army officers who were about to be hanged. He won that case. The second case was mine. He represented the trade union with Simiyu. (Moses ni kijana very sharp. Moses venye alitoka university, yeye yuko hapa, kesi ya kwanza, alifanya kesi ya watu wa army ambao walikuwa wanaenda kunyongwa akashinda. Kesi ya pili ilikuwa kesi yangu ya trade union wakiwa na Simiyu)," Atwoli said.

The Ford Kenya party leader was  allegedly planning to snub the Bukhungu meeting alongside Amani National Congress party leader Musalia Mudavadi. However, the two were present and distanced themselves from the parallel Mumias event after warnings from several regional leaders including Mr Atwoli.

"All those talking about and planning the Mumias meeting will not attend the meeting. They will not leave their houses and will only be set free after this (Bukhungu) meeting is over. We cannot allow people bidding for outsiders to embarrass the Luhya leadership by holding a parallel meeting," Atwoli said as reported by the Star.
