Thika traffic police in conjunction with the National Transport and Safety Authorities (NTSA) personnel on Saturday launched a crackdown along Thika superhighway near castle industries within Thika Sub County.

According to Thika traffic boss, Benjamin Kiprotich, the crackdown was aimed at getting the faulty vehicles and taking rid of them from the roads.

The officer revealed that they managed to arrest 28 motorists whom their vehicles were faulty. Those who were arrested are locked in their cell and will be arraigned in court on Monday

He said that half of the arrested was moving in a speed more than the scheduled and the rest were either having an expired insurance cover or were faulty

“We have launched a crackdown to get all the faulty vehicles on this roads and we have arrested 28 motorists who were having problems while using the road either they were driving on a high speed, beyond the speed limits, or they had expired insurance cover,” said Kiprotich.

Kiprotich said that they have to curb road accidents which are mostly caused by reckless drivers.
