In an advisory dated November 29, the Meteorological Department says that heavy rains should also be expected in regions yet to be affected by the downpour already pounding most parts of the country.

The Kenya Meteorological Department says that intense rainfall should be expected in Central Kenya, South East Lowlands and Nairobi regions beginning Saturday

Kajiado, Kisii, Homa Bay, Kisumu, Makueni, Machakos, Muranga and Kericho are also earmarked for heavy rains.

"The heavy rainfall is likely to spread to other parts of Central Kenya, Nairobi, South East lowlands on Tuesday, December 3,” said the weatherman on Friday.

Nairobi, Kiambu, Nyandarua, Kericho, Migori and Nakuru are also set for the same, with the met now telling residents of the named regions to prepare for floods.

The weatherman advises Kenyans to take caution, warning that floods might also be spotted in regions that have not received heavy rains which can be deeper and faster.

“Residents are advised to avoid driving through, or walking in moving water or open fields, and not to shelter under trees and near grilled windows to avoid exposure to lighting strikes," further reads the advisory.

The advisory comes only a day after the government admitted that over 100 lives have been lost in the ongoing heavy rains.
