Political analyst Ambrose Weda has faulted President Uhuru Kenyatta over his recent attacks on a section of mainstream politicians opposed to the looming referendum.

Before their u-turn, the group allied to Deputy President William Ruto had insisted that the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) report be passed through the parliament.

The same has not been going down well with the president, who is for the referendum and a co-founder of the BBI, which Weda has taken issue with, terming his reaction outdated.

Speaking on Wednesday, the lawyer said that BBI being merely a report, Uhuru should embrace everyone's view, as it's obvious for people to have differed during such times.

"BBI is just a report, its a mixture of things. Your decision depends on what you pick and decide to speak on. It has good and bad clauses as well," he said on KBC English Service.

He said that Uhuru's actions point to a discriminative man who cannot condone people with a different opinion, which should not be the case from a man in charge of a country.

According to the High Court advocate and Lake Basin Development Authority (LBDA) board member, Uhuru's rants were unfortunate and unnecessary.

"Mr President, we love you but you must reduce these tantrums. You are the president of everyone; those who have read it, those who haven't and those pretending to have read it. These outbursts aren't for a president in the 20th century," he added.

Uhuru is not new to rants and has also repeatedly scolded MPs from his Mt Kenya backyard for engaging in empty politics and abandoning development.

The attacks have been seen as aimed at allies of Ruto who form the majority.
