The arrival of Ikolomani lawmaker Bernard Shinali's son Chris Atema's body in the country has been postponed to Sunday, August 11.
This comes as a change of plan, considering that the remains of the 35-year-old were initially expected to land in Kenya on Wednesday, even as burial arrangements continue.
According to Robert Ayitsi, the postponement is to blame on the ongoing arrangements to ferry the body back home, which is expected to be accompanied by the MP who is in the US.
Atema died after reportedly drowning in a swimming pool in Arizona two weeks ago, while he was trying to save a young girl who was also drowning. He was in Arizona on holiday.
Shinali travelled to the US on July 27 to take care of the arrangements, said Ayitsi.
“We received the news about his death from a relative who works with him in the navy. The MP travelled to the US and will be coming back with the remains of his son,” Mr Ayitsi the Nation.
Atema who was a US marine officer was living in Illinois had gone for the holiday with his wife and two children, with his burial having initially been slated for this Saturday.
A funeral service has since been held in Iowa to enable his friends to pay their last tribute before his burial.
