Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi 'Sonko' took to Facebook on Sunday night to express his condolences to the late Kikuyu Benga musician John De'Mathew who died in a road accident near Blue Post Hotel in Thika.

Sonko described De'Mathew as the best musician of his time. He went ahead to also pray for God to protect Kenyans and their families.

"A road accident has taken the life of the best musician of our time, John De'Mathhew. Rest in Peace.RIP and to you, my people may God Almighty always protect You and your Families wherever you are.. We don't know when our day will come All of us with all our beauty, our richness or poverty, our power, our drama etc are impending corpses because one day we will all have to die.

(Hatujui siku yetu ni lini. Sisi sote na urembo wetu, utajiri ama umaskini wetu, power yet, drama zetu etc. ni maiti watarajiwa or maiti in waiting coz we must one day die)," Sonko wrote on his Facebook page.

John De'Mathew was pronounced dead at the Thika Nursing Home after the accident which involved his car and a lorry. 

De'Mathew was one of the most renown Kikuyu musicians. Some of his songs include; 'Nengereria Ka'ne', 'Simama Mama', 'Muthoniwa' among others.
