Tharaka Nithi Governor Muthomi Njuki has dismissed claims he has been hiding from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), over graft related allegations.
Speaking in Magumoni Ward, the county boss termed the claims baseless and unfounded.
Governor Njuki claimed his enemies wants to use underhand methods, which include spreading of propaganda to tarnish his name.
He noted that he took time off to spend time with his family during the holiday, which had nothing to do with an alleged probe into the loss of funds at the county government.
“I was not on the run, I had gone for an outing with my wife just to relax after a busy year and I am now back, re-energised,” he said.
The governor divulged that 2022 campaigns will not derail him from implementing the projects he had started, adding that his performance scoreboard will determine whether he remains in office or leaves when that time comes.
Muthomi further reminded his critics that county resources belong to all residents, and not just a few individuals.
A few members of Tharaka Nithi County Assembly (MCAs) have also defended the county boss.
